On the Radar – Upcoming Book Releases

Your ups and downs are completely dictated by the book you're reading. | 25 Signs You're Addicted To Books

I am beyond excited for some upcoming book releases. Some of my favorite authors are releasing new material and I’m sitting on pins and needles while I wait.

Here are a few upcoming releases that I simply cannot wait for that you may want to check out:

The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware

Release date: May 29, 2018

The Death of Mrs. WestawayI love Ruth Ware! The woman can write a suspense mystery novel with the best of them. I devoured all of her novels (The Woman in Cabin 10, The Lying Game) and simply cannot wait.

Synopsis: On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person—but also that the cold-reading skills she’s honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money.

Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased…where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it.

Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware’s signature suspenseful style, this is an unputdownable thriller from the Agatha Christie of our time.

War Storm by Victroia Aveyard

Release Date: May 15, 2018

War Storm (Red Queen, #4)I devoured the first three books in the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. It’s a slightly different genre for me, (YA, Fantasy) but the story and writing are too good to not be obsessed. If you haven’t read the other books (Red Queen, Glass Sword, & King’s Cage) I highly recommend checking those out before diving into the 4th installment.

Synopsis: Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all… starting with the crown on Maven’s head.

But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything—and everyone—in his path.

War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?

In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power… for all will be tested, but not all will survive.

Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell

Release Date: April 17, 2018

Then She Was GoneI have not yet read any books by Lisa Jewell, but I am a sucker for a good thriller and the description of this book has got me interested!

Synopsis: Ten years after her teenage daughter disappears, a woman crosses paths with a charming single father whose young child feels eerily familiar, in this evocative, suspenseful drama from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell—perfect for fans of Paula Hawkins and Liane Moriarty.

Ellie Mack was the perfect daughter. She was fifteen, the youngest of three. She was beloved by her parents, friends, and teachers. She and her boyfriend made a teenaged golden couple. She was days away from an idyllic post-exams summer vacation, with her whole life ahead of her.

And then she was gone.

Legendary by Stephanie Garber

Release Date: May 29, 2018

Legendary (Caraval, #2)I read the first book in this series, Caraval, last year on a whim. The cover enticed me (I know, judging books and all that) and so did the description. It was an instantly compelling story about two sisters and a dangerous, magical game.

Synopsis: After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister’s. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.

Social Creature by Tara Isabella Burton

Release Date: June 5, 2018

Social CreatureThis is another book that caught me by the cover. I’ve not yet read anything by Tara Isabella Burton, but I am intrigued. Full disclosure, I have an advanced reader copy of this book via Netgally, that is next on my TBR shelf. Stay tuned for a review. 🙂

SynopsisThey go through both bottles of champagne right there on the High Line, with nothing but the stars over them… They drink and Lavinia tells Louise about all the places they will go together, when they finish their stories, when they are both great writers-to Paris and to Rome and to Trieste…

Lavinia will never go. She is going to die soon.

Louise has nothing. Lavinia has everything. After a chance encounter, the two spiral into an intimate, intense, and possibly toxic friendship. A Talented Mr. Ripley for the digital age, this seductive story takes a classic tale of obsession and makes it irresistibly new.
